Our staff is directed by Sarah Brown MA, Sarah's background as a competitive swimmer and instructor combined with her career in the family and child behavioral health field led her to opening this special swim school. All lead instructors are not only highly trained in swim instruction but also have deep backgrounds in early childhood development, and behavioral health. Our assistant instructors have solid backgrounds as state level competitive swimmers and water polo players.
Swimming is therapeutic. Not only is swimming a fun and necessary life skill, swimming has many other benefits for the mind and spirit. Swimming is also known to boost endorphins that increase feelings of well-being. The rhythmic strokes and sound of water make swimming very relaxing. Studies show that swimming produces the same relaxation response as yoga, increasing calming chemicals and allowing us to enter a relaxed meditative state.
Children learn best in a quiet calm environment, that is what The Swim School of Bend provides.
Our program is designed for students to swim once a week year round. Children benefit the most from this consistency. Lessons are 20-45 minutes each week.
Our individualized swim curriculum is designed to meet your child's specific physical, emotional, and behavioral needs in the water. We strive to be the highest quality swim school in Bend, and the only therapeutic swim school. In addition, each swim student is frequently personally evaluated by our top instructor to assure the highest quality of instruction and curriculum.
Our pool is located in a unique private 2200 square foot pool house. The only activity going on is swim lessons, this is not a public pool house. Our pool house is located in mid-town, in the heart of Bend. Easy to access from all locations. The pool is maintained at the highest level of cleanlieness, both in and out of the water. There are many areas within our spa like setting for parents to grab a cold drink and relax. We have wi-fi and plenty of activities inside and out for siblings to enjoy during lessons. There is also a full bathroom and shower available. The pool temperature is kept at a warm 92 degrees to assure comfort of the youngest students.

"Our pediatrician recommended The Swim School of Bend for lessons for our son. Our son is 2 years old and can roll and float on his back by himself just after a few lessons, we are very pleased with the instruction"
We started swimming lessons with Swim School of Bend just after our son turned 8. We had tried quite a few other private swim instructors over the years. Our son was anxious and determined he was not going under the water. Sarah Brown and her wonderful team of instructors met him where he was and helped build his confidence and trust. He was under water by his second lesson. And so proud of himself. He is now 9 and on verge of completely independent swimming. Sarah and her team are playful, fun and very professional. They are amazing at inspiring kids to challenge themselves while supporting and encouraging them. Ours sons progress has been amazing. I highly recommend The Swim School of Bend.
"My son was scared of the water, but after working with Sarah for just a couple of months, swim time is now his favorite part of the week!"

PAYMENT - Payment is due the 1st of every month for the entire month of tuition. Tuition is the same every month all year long. We are always willing to work with you if you need a different date to pay based on your pay day etc. If payment arrangements are not made and we do not receive payment by the 5th of the month your spot will not be held for your child and will go to the next person on the wait list.
HOLIDAYS; We are closed for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day only . For one of these holidays we close for the entire week, you will be notified a month before. In addition to this week off we close one more full week in the summer for critical scheduled pool maintenance. These are built into our pricing model and tuition does not change based on these scheduled closures.
SICK POLICY / MISSED CLASS- Our swim school runs much like other sports and athletic classes with the exception that our classes are private, not group lessons and therefore limited and extremely full. Unfortunately, this structure does not allow for the capacity or additional staff to accommodate make-up lessons or refunds for non attendance, regardless of the reasons why. Our coaches are on site ready to teach for the scheduled time, and non attendance does not qualify for a refund or a make up.
UNEXPECTED POOL CLOSURE- In the rare event of an unexpected pool closure or staff cancellation without a sub, you will be notified and refunded for that day.
INSTRUCTORS; It is very important to us that we match your child with the right instructor. This is something we strive for every day, sometimes the one we scheduled your child with is not the best match, if this happens, please let us know and we will do our best to find the best fit with another instructor.
Consistency is very important in a swim program, like you , we too expect our instructors to always be here on time, prepared and ready to teach your child. As life happens instructors get sick have life events, school and sport events and sometimes can't be here. We often have other instructors who work for us cover these shifts when we can. Your child's main instructor shares notes with the substitute who will do their best to pick up where the last lesson left off. It is not a guarantee that your instructor will be here every week , sometimes it will be a different one for a short time.
SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN:
Children are to be supervised 100% of the time when they are not in the water with their instructor. Children can not be downstairs with out a parent or upstairs without a parent ever. Children can not be outside playing if a parent is not with them. This goes for siblings who are not swimming as well. There are dangers including stairs, and the hot tub which could be accessed by an unsupervised child. Our pool house has multiple cameras around. If we are notified that you have a child that is not supervised then you will be asked to not return. The Swim School of Bend is not responsible for unsupervised children.
